Simama Na Dada Initiative

Simama NA DADA Initiative is all about caring for our fellow sisters. Simama Na DADA has managed to reach out to over 15,000 school going girls and boys through mentorship and life skills training. We have also grown to the capacity of providing over 6,000 sanitary towels monthly to needy girls to keep them in school.

Despite the introduction of Free Primary Education in 2003 and Free Secondary Education in 2008, girls continue to be disadvantaged in education. Sexual maturation process has been identified to have a negative impact on the education of a girl child. One of the strategies to enhance and retain girls in school is the provision of sanitary towels to needy girls across Kenya so as to ensure girls retention and effective participation in education.

Many school going girls continue to miss school during their menses. According to UNICEF 2007 report, a girl in primary school between grades 6 and 8 loses approximately 18 weeks out of 108 school weeks. A girl in high school (4 years) loses 156 learning days which is equivalent to almost 24 weeks out of 144 weeks of school. Because of poverty most use pieces of dirty rugs, cotton wool, leaves and paper some even wash and recycle. These practices expose them to diseases and discomfort.

Simama NA DADA project is to Support Us sanitary towels to more than 6,000 disadvantaged poor girls as well as educate them on HIV/Aids, healthy and productive living. The beneficiaries will be entitled to a full year sanitary pads donations while following up on their hygienic living.

Our Vision

To see girls attend school with little or no disturbances due to normal body function.

Our Mission

To empower and equip young girls with life skills through provision of sanitary towels, mentorship, guidance and counselling.

Our Goal

To collect and distribute sanitary towels to young girls in formal and non-formal settings, equipping them with life skills that prepare them to participate in life process with dignity and respect.

Together we can help the less privileged girls to manage their PERIODS with diginity.

Menstruation remains critical even during pandemics because it's a natural process that can't pause for anything in the world. The current situation is delicate and many young girls are struggling to manage their periods, that's why we still call upon well-wishers to donate dignity kits, so that, we can reach more girls during this COVID-19 crisis.
